Joshua Amissah was born in 1995 and studied Fine Arts and Photography at the Zurich University of the Arts before studying Design. After a study visit at the Humboldt University of Berlin he won the Design award of ZHdK in 2021 with his photography book "Black Masculinities", which is currently nominated for the Swiss Design Award 2023. In addition to his experience as a photo editor he also personally writes and edits for various publications and clients. Amissah is also part of the offspace collective bild8005, whose project spaces offer an alternative art platform to emerging and established artists. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 he participated as co-curator of photoSCHWEIZ and was also main curator of the Black Art Matters exhibition. Amissah works as a photo editor, editor, art mediator and curator at the intersection of image and words. He is currently freelancing between Berlin and Zurich for clients such as the Boros collection, VOGUE Germany digital, Migros Magazine, akut Mag and photoSCHWEIZ.
